Blacknight Festival Centre at the Roundy Bar
Festivals are not just about screenings; there are also social and industry events you may benefit from. IndieCork has a number of free events which may be of interest, mostly taking place in the Blacknight Festival Centre upstairs at the Roundy Bar. Certain events, through free, need to be booked through Eventbrite – see booking link below.
Thursday 6th
Improving Your FilmFreeway Page: 12 noon
Entry Platforms are now the standard way of entering your film to festivals, FilmFreeway being the most prominent. IndieCork programmer and Green Ray Film Agency’s Mick Hannigan will give some tips on getting the most from your FilmFreeway page and ensure that your film is presented to optimum effect.
Filmmakers Meet Up: 8pm – 9.30pm
Meet fellow filmmaker guests, festival staff and visiting festival curators upstairs in the Roundy. This will be followed by a DJ set of strange and wonderful music by the legend that is John Byrne.

Friday 7th
My First Feature: Stephen Broekhuizen: 12 noon – 1pm
Cork-produced indie feature Bound To Work receives its World Premiere at IndieCork. This will be an opportunity to hear from the film’s writer/director Steve Broekhuizen on the ins and outs of getting an indie feature film off the ground, on the move from shorts to feature filmmaking and the challenges and rewards of the process.
Composing for Short Film: 2.30pm – 5pm
Screen Composers Guild of Ireland presents a panel discussion for filmmakers and composers about commissioning and collaborating with composers to create original music scores for short film. SCGI is the representative body for professional composers of original music for film.
The discussion will be followed by a networking session with refreshments.
Saturday 8th
Women Filmmakers Networking Session: 4.30pm – 5.30pm
IndieCork welcomes female filmmakers and we’re hosting a networking session on Saturday afternoon at the wonderful Maureen’s Bar for female directors and producers participating in IndieCork.
Invitations will be issued by the festival.
Sunday 9th
Meet The Festivals: 12 noon
For our 10th anniversary festival we’re delighted to have many International festival programmers and curators attending. This will be an opportunity to hear what their festivals are looking for and how best you can get your film considered.

Women Making Films and Curating Films by Women: Time and venue TBC
The panel will discuss both the experiences of women making films and female curators screening films by women. The participants will include Wilbirg Brainin-Donnenberg from Austria, filmmaker and founder of FC Gloria Women’s Film Network, and Jenny Clarke, Shorts Programmer with Edinburgh International Film Festival, and part of queer feminist film curating collective, Club des Femmes.
Tuesday 11th
Scriptwriting Masterclass with Antoine Le Bos: Online at 2pm
The Masterclass will delve into the script development process and look at how limitations can actually enhance creativity. Antoine will look at the difference between conception and writing phases, and investigate methodological tools to boost the creative process, as well as show how ‘pre-writing’ is key.
This session is suitable for writers, directors, producers, industry professionals and film students.
